We love exploring all that the lowcountry has to offer by way of Adventure. Black’s Fish Camp and Restaurant has been a gem of a find, roughly 75 minutes from downtown Charleston. They were discovered when a TV production company needed to have a adventurous bachelor party to be present for the filming of a reality TV show highlighting the workings of a first-class fish camp nestled right along the canal connecting the lakes (Marion and Moultrie) in the beautiful Santee Cooper region.
It has been great getting to know the owners Kevin Davis and Al Wiess. They are a great pair and compliment each other very well. Kevin along with his wife handle most of the day to day operations of the camp, the kitchen and 100 lodging units. Many guides operate out of Black’s and they are well known for their record setting catfish, shellcrackers, crappies, large mouth bass and GATORS. Al oversees the Black Briar hunting preserve. There they offer guided hunting excursions for quail, turkey, deer and other game. Their location is perfect for some extras that OPA provides like flyboarding and trike hangliding.
All in all, this find has been a goldmine for On Purpose Adventures. They are a great venue for bachelor parties and corporate groups that want the great outdoors experience and all the details taken care of. They are versatile. If the weather is bad a group can go shooting at a range or for skeet. ATVs are also in the works. We are thoroughly excited about the relationship we are forming with them. It is encouraging that they roll out the red carpet for our groups!
